Location: New Ferry, Wirral (occasional work at our Delifonseca counter, Liverpool)
Hours: Full-time, Saturday work required

Founded in 1844, Edge & Son is one of Britain’s oldest traditional butchers, proudly serving the Wirral and beyond.

Where possibble, our animals come from local farms within 25 miles of our shop, and we have our own abattoir, ensuring the highest standards of welfare, sustainability, and quality.
We’re a small, dedicated team of butchers and farmers who care deeply about doing things the right way – respecting the animal, the farmer, and the customer.
We’re looking for a skilled, reliable, and enthusiastic Butcher to join our team in New Ferry.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who values craft, precision, and good food.
You’ll be responsible for:
Breaking down carcasses and preparing meat for both retail and wholesale customers
Producing sausages, burgers, and other traditional products
Serving customers and providing knowledgeable, friendly advice at the counter
Maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards
Occasionally assisting at our Delifonseca counter in Liverpool
You’ll be joining a tight-knit team who take pride in their work and enjoy sharing that passion with our customers.
We’re looking for someone who:
✅ Has previous experience in butchery (retail or wholesale) – or a keen desire to learn
✅ Takes pride in high-quality work and presentation
✅ Understands the importance of provenance and animal welfare
✅ Works well as part of a small, friendly team
✅ Can adapt to occasional work at our Liverpool counter
Food hygiene and HACCP knowledge are desirable, but full training will be provided.
